Living beyond our means

Would you have known the following?

“At the current rate humanity is using natural resources and producing waste, by the mid-2030s we will require the resources of two planets to meet our demands, according to figures released last week by Global Footprint Network.”

I have come across this article from the footprint network which explains clearly that if our children and grandchildren are to survive on a planet that can still be called “mother earth”, things have to CHANGE and much quicker than expected. Ecosystem failures and ensuing economic disaster are around the corner - a chilly perspective for all of us. Click here to read and react!

CHANGING our living habits and our living standards?

YES WE CAN – another job on OUR endless to-do-list Mr. Obama.

Congratulations Mr Barack Obama

This is a great moment for the United States of America and the world. Change has come to the US and I wish you good luck as executive change agent.

Change as you said means amongst others a more peaceful world, a better regulated financial world, alleviating poverty and a new policy addressing climate change – all values and objectives that we, CTA, fully share and work for.

As an ACP-EU joint institution we also appreciate fully where you are coming from: with a Kenyan father and ancestors at your grandmother’s side from Alsace you fulfill perfectly all conditions as an ACP-EU representative.

Let me wish you well. Our thoughts were with you and we had great pleasure getting together all CTA staff yesterday when I proposed a toast to you. I hope that you will receive full support from all governments leaders to get this world in order again.

Yes we can.

Greetings from CTA, ACP-EU’s change agent for agriculture and rural development.

Truly yours,
Hansjörg Neun
